About the journal
Editorial policy
How the journal is researched, sourced, written, translated, updated and corrected — and how we use AI tools to do it.
What the journal is for
The journal answers the questions travellers ask before a trip: when to go, how long things take, and what to check before you fly. Every article opens with a short, direct answer, then shows the working — the figures, where they come from, and the date they were checked — so you can rely on it or check it yourself.
NWP Travel sells travel, and the journal links to our services where they are relevant. Nobody pays to appear in an article, and the journal carries no advertising.
How we research and cite
- Official sources first. National weather services, statistical offices, airports, airlines, ministries and tourism boards. Where only a news report records something, such as an airline's advisory for a holiday weekend, we cite the report and its date.
- Every fact has a source. Figures in the text carry a numbered citation linking to the list at the foot of the article, with the publisher, a secure link and the date we opened it. Each article cites at least three sources.
- No copying. We write in our own words. We do not reproduce other publishers' text, and where a source's terms forbid re-publishing its data, we do not reproduce it.
- What we cannot verify, we leave out — and where the gap matters, we say so.
- No prices. Fares and room rates change by the hour, so articles do not quote them; our desk quotes for your dates.
Visas and entry rules
We never state visa or entry rules as fact in the journal. They depend on your passport, they change, and a wrong answer can cost you a trip. Articles link to the official source instead — the government or authority that sets the rule — and to our visa desk, which checks the requirements for your passport and destination.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools — large language models — throughout the journal's work: to search for and read sources, to draft articles, to translate them and to check them. We say so because you should know how what you are reading was made.
The tools do not get to invent. Every fact must come from a source listed at the foot of the article, opened on the date shown; the short answer must be supported by the article below it; and automated tests, run before anything is published, fail on an article that breaks the sourcing rules above. Publishing is a decision taken by NWP Travel, not by a tool.
AI tools can still make mistakes, and so can people. That is why every figure carries a citation you can follow, and why we correct errors as soon as we are shown them. Photographs in the journal are real photographs, credited to their photographers; we do not use AI-generated images.
Photographs
Photographs come from Unsplash under the Unsplash License, each credited to its photographer with a link to the original. We look at every photograph before we use it, and its caption says what it shows and nothing more: a picture of a place is never presented as a hotel, an airline or a product we sell.
Languages and translation
Articles are written in English first, then translated one at a time. A translation says which English edition it was made from, and it is published only once it is complete: we never show an English article under another language's address. When the English is updated, the translations are updated before they are published again.
Updates and corrections
- Every article shows when it was published and when it was last updated. The Updated date moves only when we have re-checked the facts and changed the text.
- Articles about things that change often — airport procedures, school calendars, timetables — are the ones we re-check first when a source announces a change.
- If you find an error, write to trade@nwp.ae with the article's address. We check the claim against the source; if we were wrong, we correct the article and, for a material correction, record what changed and when at the foot of the article.
