About this tool
How it works
What it does
Builds a checklist grouped into documents and money, clothing, toiletries, health, electronics, the journey and extras for the kind of trip, with quantities that follow the length of your stay.
Your settings, your ticks and your own items are kept in this browser only, so the list is there when you come back.
How it calculates
The list is a set of rules written by our desk, not data about your trip: each item appears for the weather and the kinds of trip it suits. Everyday clothes count one a day up to seven, on the assumption that you can wash things on a longer trip; trousers and skirts count one for every three days, up to three.
The weather bands go by the average daily high, in whole degrees: hot is 32 °C or more, warm 25 to 31 °C, mild 18 to 24 °C, cool 10 to 17 °C and cold below 10 °C.
What it cannot know
It cannot know your airline's baggage allowance, what your destination lets you bring in, or what you personally need. Check your airline's rules on liquids, batteries and weight.
Entry documents are on the list as a reminder to check, not as a rule: what you need depends on your passport and your destination. Our visa desk can check it for you.
Sources
This tool uses no outside data: it works only from what you enter and the rules described above.
