About this tool
How it works
What it does
Adds up eight kinds of spending: flights, accommodation, food and drink, getting around, activities and tickets, shopping, visas and insurance, and anything else, for the number of travellers and days you set.
Shows the total, the cost per person, per day and per person per day, and how much of the total each kind of spending takes.
How it calculates
Each amount is multiplied by how it is counted: once for the trip, by the number of nights (one fewer than the days), by the number of days, by the number of travellers, or by travellers and days together. The sums are done in whole minor units (cents, fils) so the lines add up exactly; the per-person and per-day figures are divided and rounded to the currency's smallest unit.
The budget is in the currency you choose, which starts as the one you use on this site, and is kept in this browser only.
What it cannot know
It knows no prices: it adds up what you enter. For a costed trip, ask us for a quote.
Changing the budget's currency does not convert the amounts; they are read as amounts in the new currency.
