About this tool
How it works
What it does
Lists the cities in our atlas where the average daily high in the month is 25 °C or more, with the month's typical rainfall, and lets you narrow the list to dry or hot places or to one part of the world.
Lists every one of them: first the cities we have guides to, then those with a large airport, then the rest, most populous first. Where we have a guide to a city, its name links to it.
How it calculates
The figures are NASA POWER's climate averages for 2001 to 2020 at each city's location. The average daily high is the month's mean temperature plus half its mean daily range, and the rainfall is the month's total. Warm means an average daily high of 25 °C or more; hot, 32 °C or more; dry, less than 50 mm of rain in the month.
The cities are the atlas's: every capital, every city of 300,000 people or more and every city with an airport with scheduled flights, with names and populations from GeoNames.
What it cannot know
POWER's figures are modelled for a grid cell roughly 50 km across, not measured at a weather station: a cell that takes in sea and desert, or a mountain and a valley, can run hotter or colder than the city itself.
These are long-term averages, not a forecast: any given week can be hotter, colder or wetter.
Warmth is not the whole story: humidity, sea temperature and seasonal storms are not shown here.
